About PollRateTest

PollRateTest is a free web tool that measures how fast your keyboard and mouse report input, in hertz (Hz). Press keys or move your mouse and the page shows your live rate, average rate and max rate, with a history chart — all in your browser.

How it works

When you run a test, the page counts the input events your browser receives — keydown and keyup events in keyboard mode, mousemove events in mouse mode — over a rolling one-second window. The live rate is the count in that window; the average covers the whole test; the max is your best one-second burst.

An honest limitation

A browser cannot read a keyboard's USB report rate directly. Keyboard mode therefore measures your key event rate in the browser: holding one key shows the operating system's repeat rate (about 30 Hz), which is normal. Mouse mode is closer to a hardware reading, because continuous movement produces a stream of events at the mouse's report rate. For a lab-grade keyboard measurement, use your keyboard maker's own software.

Private by design

Measurement happens entirely in your web browser. Nothing you press or move is uploaded to a server, saved in a database, or tracked. There are no accounts and nothing to install; close the tab and your test data is gone.

What it costs

Nothing. PollRateTest is free to use with no limits. The site is supported by advertising, which keeps the tool free for everyone.

Independence

PollRateTest is an independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by any keyboard, mouse, or computer manufacturer.
